Inclusionary Language for Hybrid Event Emcees

BECAUSE OUR WORDS MATTER!

How to ensure your emcee and speakers are building a strong, inclusive relationship with your audience

Whether it’s changing your language, asking for pronouns or not making cultural assumptions or jokes, inclusive language can make all the difference in creating an event, conference or annual meeting for your organization.

More and more attendees are learning about diversity, equity and inclusion at work, the media and at great events like yours, so it's vital that your event be a leader in words, actions and event planning for your attendees and industry - and emcees like me can help!

Why use this language in the first place?

Using inclusive language is important because it goes to the core of what events and conferences do - they make an impact on people. A positive impact! To achieve your goal, your event needs to have an "ALL ARE WELCOME" sign hanging from every doorway, spoken on every stage, and written in every word.

Excluding folks with language and visuals means that the goals of bringing people together to grow, learn and connect are even harder to achieve - including everyone does the opposite! It helps create a space where everyone feels seen, welcomed and included in the conversation.
